Why you need a website?

Open for Business
I know it's 2020, so you probably think you need is a thriving Instagram, Youtube or Facebook account to survive in the market, Wrong! Let the world know you are open for business.
Just having a website itself isn't enough though, it has to be a search engine optimized (#SEO) so that when customers #googlesearch for photographers in your area you appear in the top search. Having a search engine optimized website enables you to expand your network and reach thousands of more potential customers without spending much, once you have this wider audience you can promote your services and give you a chance of competing in this competitive industry.
Ever noticed or had a client tell you that when you upload an image to instagram taken from your DSLR or mirrorless camera that the image comes out lower quality and fuzzy? Yeah that's because Instagram compresses the file size if it's to awesome (big) 1080px x 1080px is the recommended size. As a photographer it hurts when I see my images online at a lower quality therefore you should create a website where you can emphasize the clarity.
You can have a 5 star rated business on Facebook or Yelp but people expect to see your website to understand more about the brand. If you have prospective buyers looking for you online then including customer reviews on your website is a great way to impress potential customers. With a website you will be able to convey to your entire audience your message, vision and mission, tell your story in your own words.
Client trust & expectations
Prospective clients will be looking for your website to decide whether they can trust you to use your services a fully optimized website with galleries of past work shows the customer that you are a professional, range and quality of your services. Clients want to look at your website and be excited at the possibility of hiring you for their event, professional photography is a bit of a luxury service so make them feel as such.
Whether your social media channels are buzzing or not clients won't want to trust their funds to you if their is no website, it calls into question the legitimacy of your business and whether you will be unreachable once they have paid you. Don't create this doubt cloud, create a website.... today not like you can go anywhere. #stayhome
